Youth Summer Music Programs (YSMP) – Musician

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. Each summer, the School of Music welcomes hundreds of student musicians to Ohio State’s campus where they participate in programs specifically designed to further their skills, understanding of – and love for – music. Musicians will accompany all campers, staff, and camp directors in rehearsals and during camp performances; collaborate with the Youth Summer Music Program directors and the School of Music’s administrative team to oversee compliance with school policies and procedures that align with the school’s mission and vision; act as liaisons between directors and campers to ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner; and will contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the growth and development of students. 4+ years of proven experience in music teaching; strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and community partners; knowledge of music education pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment; ability to work collaboratively with the School of Music administrative team and instructors to achieve the school’s goals; and have a passion for music education and a commitment to the school’s mission of providing accessible and high-quality music instruction to the community.
