Catholic Music Director

Do you have experience leading Catholic worship music and the confidence to guide a congregation from the piano, keyboard, or guitar? Lead music during weekly Catholic worship services and rehearsals.Select music that reflects the liturgical calendar, Scripture readings, and service themes.Provide preludes, offertories, postludes, hymns, anthems, solos, and other appropriate music.Play piano/keyboard or guitar while leading congregational singing.Organize and direct choir and musician rehearsals.Coordinate special musical performances with the Chaplain/Priest.Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise music program volunteers.Assist with music ministry planning, events, and administrative requirements.Operate required audio/visual equipment and help volunteers use it correctly. $50.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.Approximately 4 hours per week.Part-time 1099 contractor opportunity.One base contract year plus four optional years.Opportunity to play an important role within an established Catholic worship community. At least two years of experience as a church music director or primary musician.Strong piano/keyboard or guitar skills.The ability to read music, transpose, sight-read or lead from charts, and improvise.Knowledge of Catholic hymns, liturgical music, and Gregorian chant.Confidence leading singers, musicians, and volunteers.Clear written and spoken English.
